The work I use in my sessions is based on two protocols, NMR© and NKT©.
In the mid 1980’s Jocelyn Olivier and David Weinstock created a bodywork protocol that expanded on their work with the “Touch for Health” system. They called it Neuromuscular Reprogramming (NMR©) and began the Institute of Conscious Bodywork to train massage therapists. Jocelyn teaches NMR through her Healus Neuro Rehab Center in Mill Valley, Ca. David teaches Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) through a series of seminars both nationally and internationally. Though they work with similar protocols the two modalities take on the style and emphasis of their instructors.
NKT and NMR are advanced approaches to structural bodywork that work with your body’s organizational intelligence to help correct dysfunctional postural and movement patterns. Utilizing movement against light resistance (manual muscle testing) they assess specific muscular imbalances resulting from overuse and injury. Combined with massage and advanced soft and deep tissue techniques, NKT and NMR effectively train your body to learn new movement patterns and help the changes become permanent.
Since 2002 I have worked with both Jocelyn and David logging over 1000 hours as a student, teaching assistant, and instructor (NMR) learning these powerful and innovative modalities. It has been a pleasure to work closely with these two gifted practitioners. I am honored to pass on their insights and proven methods through work with my students, clients, and in tutorials with other practitioners.
“I spent a great deal of my day either sitting in my home office or in my car driving to visit clients. Larry’s NKT work has helped me learn how to adapt to this need of staying in fixed positions for long periods of time. He has also helped me develop a stretching regimen to best reinforce and maintain the progress we made in our sessions." — Gary, sales rep
